Launching Mapperton Glamping!

A new glamping opportunity at Mapperton is offering the chance to relax and really reconnect with nature in the depths of the West Dorset countryside.

Mapperton Camps has two six-metre bell tents, complete with luxurious home comforts, in a field at Coltleigh Farm on the Mapperton estate, near Beaminster.

Coltleigh is a 200 acre area which has recently been handed back to nature. A small herd of White Park cattle – an ancient English breed – now roam the local pasture, while a profusion of birds, butterflies and wildflowers adorn the landscape.

During July and August this summer campers will be able to enjoy the peace and spectacular views to the sea, explore the countryside around and stroll the short distance to Mapperton House & Gardens, as well as visit the surrounding area and the Jurassic Coast, just a short drive away.

The tents, which accommodate up to three people, are spacious and contain a hand-built king size bed made with locally sourced wood, Egyptian cotton linen, a wood burner for chillier evenings, a cool box, board games, carefully selected books, as well as an outside fire pit for camp side cooking and extra warmth.

There is excellent 4G mobile signal, and each tent also has its own compost lavatory and hot shower unit.

Guests will find a welcome pack with fresh eggs, milk and bread, biodegradable soap and shampoo – and even a pair of binoculars for spotting the local wildlife.

Luke Montagu, Viscount Hinchingbrooke, whose family home is Mapperton House says: “Mapperton looks forward to welcoming guests to the wild West Dorset countryside for an exhilarating back-to-nature glamping experience.

“Our six-metre bell tents have the most fantastic views and are comfortably equipped, including a wood-burning stove and fire pit for chillier evenings.

“Guests can enjoy hearty walks across the estate, eat locally in some of Dorset’s finest pubs and restaurants, or explore the stunning Jurassic coastline, which is only seven miles away.

“We are very excited about our rewilding project at Coltleigh and we are delighted to be able to offer Mapperton Campers this opportunity to get away from it all in such a special environment.” More information on Mapperton Camps can be found at mappertoncamps.com
